Construction of Temporary School, London

Construction of Temporary School, London

The Project
The design, manufacture and installation of a 360 pupil temporary boys’ school in an Inner City area.

The Challenge
To provide a fully functioning school. including assembly hall, laboratories, workshops, music and art rooms, CDT rooms and refectory – all fully compliant with building regulations and to the standards of the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

To complete all design through to completion of construction on site within just six months.

The Solution
Devise a procurement and development strategy which allowed on-site preparatory work to run in parallel with the off-site production of bespoke modular classroom units – the scheme being broken down into two distinctive contracts.

Undertake a £1m enabling contract involving the construction of a prepared raft foundation, together with drainage and basketball and five-aside football pitches, within a five week period prior to the installation of the factory produced modular units.

Oversee all works and schedules on behalf of the Client.

The Delivery
The completed school was handed over on programme, within budget and to total Client satisfaction.
